Powder

Many consumer goods come in the form of a powder product. This includes flour, sugar, milk powder, pancake/bakery mixes, whey protein, spices, tapioca, quinoa and various detergents. Manufacturers have different challenges when packaging free flowing and non free flowing powder products  and ADM are highly expertised in this area. We can supply a fully automated turnkey solution with full system integration to deliver the highest quality end product for shelf.

Powders are classified into two groups, free flow such as granulated sugar and non-free flow such as flour. Our powder packaging machinery can handle both types of powder. Where required, we provide a changeover kit for free flow and non-free flow powders. Powder lines often have blended ingredients such as drinking chocolate. We can provide packaging lines that include blenders and sieving equipment to deliver a homogenous product. The use of our auger screw conveyors and auger dosing units provide accurate and repeatable product weights. Combined with a metal detector and check weigher ensures that your packaging line operates efficiently and risk free.

Our in-house engineers can customise your packaging line to your requirements. From dust extraction, product settling systems, blockage detection to printing and labelling. We also provide technical engineering drawings and professional electrical, and pneumatic schematics for your line.

Managing dust control is essential for any powder packaging line. A dust extraction system is crucial to keep your packaging area clean, prevent damage to your equipment and provide a safe working environment for your employees. Our in-house engineers can customise dust extraction nozzles specific to your equipment.

ADM are highly expert at customising our packaging equipment with gas flushing and installation of anti-static devices. Many packaged powders require Modified Atmospheric Packaging (MAP), also known as gas flushing. This involves the use of Nitrogen or Carbon Dioxide to increase the shelf life of your product by reducing the residual oxygen in the package. Use of an anti-static device can prevent the powder from sticking to the plastic film and becoming stuck in the seal of the bag. This is important for product integrity and product presentation.
