Salad and Vegetables
When having a salad at home nothing is more convenient than salad leaves that have already been picked, cut, washed and packaged. Salad leaf processing is not a single step process. The preparation of the salad products often contains; multiple wash stations, visual inspection, mixing, drying (tumble drum or use of air knives) and conveying.

Salad packaging lines require Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) systems which we install to our machinery. Using a correctly dosed amount of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide we can control the respiration rate of the packaged salad to extend the shelf life and freshness. A MAP system can also prevent browning of cut fruit and vegetables.
Most salad packaging lines use a Vertical Fill Form and Seal (VFFS) machine to package product into a bag formed from a film rewind. All of our VFFS machines come with a date coder so each bag can be printed with a batch number, best before date and even nutritional information and salad mix title. We can also upgrade the sealing jaws to ultrasonic sealing which provides a shorter seal to reduce film length and also minimises inclusions in the seal.

ADM design and manufacture machinery that is rated for sanitary and washdown environments. Maintaining a clean and hygienic processing line is essential for a successful salad packing business. ADM can offer fully washdown conveyors with built in CIP (Clean in place) systems so the conveyors wash themselves! We also offer high IP rated systems such as IP66 or IP69K.
